Key Stage 1

Key Stage 1 is made up of Year 1 and Year 2. Our children are aged from 5 to 7 years old.

In Key Stage 1 we learn Numeracy, Literacy, Phonics and Guided Reading every morning. In the afternoons we study a range of subjects including RE, Science, ICT and PE.

All other subjects like History, Geography, Art and DT are taught through our topics each term enabling children to make links between subjects.

Phonics Scheme followed in Key Stage One: Floppy's Phonics

Parents can access support and more information about these schemes from the Oxford Owl website (external link).

We also run regular reading and phonics workshops for parents so that you can effectively and confidently support your child's learning at home in these areas. Dates for meetings are sent out to parents every term.
