On 3rd March 2018, St Francis Xavier celebrated World Book Day by dressing as their favourite characters and bringing their favourite books into school. During the day, each class took part in various activities celebrating and promoting a love of reading. As well as this, children were thrilled to visit a miniature version of 'Harry Potter Studios' in the community room, where Mrs Dark had kindly let us use lots of her Harry Potter memorabilia! At the end of the day, the whole school gathered together for a fantastic assembly lead by Mr Simmons, who read an extract to the children from one of his favourite books- The Hobbit. Mrs Garratt, Mrs Haywood and Miss Bladen also read to the children before Mr Simmons presented awards for the 'Best Dressed Book Characters' in each class and winners of other book competitions. A great day was had by all!
