Welcome to Year 5

Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless.

Hello everyone! Parents, carers, children and all family. It is so strange not seeing you all everyday in this unusual time, we miss you all so much!

Father Kelly, from St Francis of Assisi Church, is praying for you all everyday, along with our very own Father Joseph. Father Kelly would love to share your prayers with the parish. If you would like to write a prayer and send it in, we can forward this on to Father Kelly and he will share some of your prayers during Mass, which you can then watch on the link below.

Example of a daily timetable you might like to use!

Below is an example of a daily timetable you might like to use at home to help keep you motivated! Maybe you could put it up on the wall so you know what's coming next?

What will the boys and girls learn in Year 5 in English?

What book is Miss Ward reading at the moment?

I am really enjoying this book so far. I love that it feels as though Tom Fletcher, the author, is talking to you directly throughout the book, with little messages he leaves.

I couldn't imagine a world where I woke up and all of the adults had disappeared! I can't wait to keep reading and find out what happened to them all!

Oh dear, I've just realised that if this were to happen I would disappear as well!! I'm glad it's only fiction.

What will the boys and girls learn in Year 5 in Maths?

Home Learning Projects

Simmering skills - What basic skills activities should I be doing every day?

- Reading: I know lots of you love to read to yourselves, but you should spend SOME of your reading time reading to somebody else. Maybe it could be a younger sibling or even a pet!

- Spelling: Using your spelling overview from above, choose a spelling focus and see how many words you can find that use that spelling focus! Maybe you could make it into a game or a poster?

- Times tables: Keep practising on TT Rockstars, but you can also practise your multiplication and division facts on paper as well. Maybe think of a way you could teach this to somebody else to help them understand.
