Milepost One

Milepost 1 is made up of Year 1 and Year 2 from Key Stage 1 and Year 3, this is to help smooth transition from one key stage to another.  Our boys and girls are aged from 5 to 8 years old.

In Milepost 1, we learn English with Phonics included, Mathematics every day and Group Reading for one hour every week.

The rest of the day, sometimes included in parts of some mornings and during afternoons, the boys and girls study a range of subjects including RE, Science, Computing, History, Geography, PE and PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education - a subject through which pupils develop the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to keep themselves healthy and safe, and prepared for life and work).

Subjects like History, Geography, Art and DT are taught through our topics each term enabling children to make links between subjects.

Parents can access support and more information about these schemes from the Oxford Owl website.

We also run regular reading and phonics workshops for parents so that you can effectively and confidently support your child's learning at home in these areas. Dates for meetings are sent out to parents every term.
