World Book Day

Today is World Book Day.

It is a day set aside each year to celebrate books, authors, and reading!

Today we are gong to think about World Book Day, but we have also set aside a day to celebrate it properly when you all return to school.

I have attached some activities which you might like to have a go at.

English

T: To write a middle that builds drama (Part 2)

In this lesson we will finish the middle of our story.

We will talk through the middle of our story, using our story map from lesson 2.

We will then box up the middle of our story before writing a middle that builds drama.

Remember to use capital letters and punctuation marks (.,?!)

Support –This video has step by step completion of the activities. You can pause it at any point. Try completing one activity at a time.

Challenge – Think about how you can build up tension in your story. Circle words which create a frightening mood.  Can you replace some words to create that frightening mood?

Reading

T: To find the meaning of new vocabulary

Match the word to the correct meaning. You do not need to print out the sheet, you can write the word with the correct meaning next to it.

Support: Choose 5 words.

Challenge: Can you write each word in a sentence?

Maths

First, have a go at completing the Flashback activity.

T: To sort 3D shapes.

Watch the video lesson below and complete the work sheet.

Support – Focus on questions 1- 4.

Challenge – Complete all reasoning questions on the second page of the worksheet.  I have also attached a 'True or False' (T or F) question to make you think!

RE

T – To think about how we become closer to God.

Read (Listen on Teams) to the PowerPoint and complete the activity within.

I have attached an outline of a leaf or you can draw your own.

Design and Technology

T- To make a moving giraffe.

Today, in Design and Technology, you are going to make a moving giraffe, like Gerard using the skills you learnt in last week's DT lesson.

Hopefully, you have some split pins.  There are plenty at the school office.

You can use sliders and split pins. I have attached some worksheets which you could use to help you or you can have a go at drawing your own giraffe.  Alternatively, you could print out a page from the book.

Please make sure your child is adequately supervised.

I hope you enjoy this and I look forward to seeing your dancing giraffes.

Have a lovely evening and I will see you tomorrow!
