Phonics

Today we be learning the alternative spelling patterns for /ar/ sound.

/ar/ as in smart;  /al/ as in half;  /a/ as in father;

Complete the alternative spelling pattern sheet for /ar/

Ask an adult to read the instructions to you (see below and the sheet).

1) underline all the different spellings for long /ar/ sound in the word list.

Practise reading all the words in the lists (sound out and blend) to yourself first. Then read them to an adult - tick the ones you read correctly.

2) Underline all the different spellings for long /ar/ sound in the passage (text) . Then read the text. 

3) In the last box, write a sentence using a word/words from the lists and draw a picture to go with it (illustrate it). 

Challenge: 

Choose a word from each list and write a sentence for each one.

Remember to use joined/best handwriting, a capital letter at the beginning of your sentence, word spaces and a full stop at the end of your sentence.

T: To write a prayer (Our lady of Lourdes)

Today is the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes.  Read the PowerPoint file.

Listen to the prayer and hymn to Our lady of Lourdes.

Write your own prayer to Our Lady of Lourdes. Think about the sick people who are currently ill.  Do you know anybody who is sick? Could you write a prayer for them?

Science

T: To sort materials.

In this lesson, we will be learning about raw materials and synthetic materials. You will learn some examples of each of these types of materials and will complete an activity in which you need to decide whether various different materials are raw or synthetic. You will need a piece of paper and a pencil

Assembly

Today's assembly is by Mrs Bullock and is about the virtues of being grateful and generous.
