Phonics

T: To practice the alternative spellings for /ch/, /ie/ and /ow/

Try playing some phonics games. Search through the games to find the sounds which you need to practice.

I have put links below to the Phonics Play website (www.phonicsplay.co.uk) for games and activities for alternative spellings spellings you have learnt this week

The site is free at the moment for home learning, but you may need to login.

You can login with the following details:

username: jan21              password: home

Support – Focus on one or two alternative spellings.

Challenge – Can you make a list words of the words you have learnt this week with the alternative spellings sounds.  Don’t look, challenge yourself to see how many you can remember?

Look back at your phonic sheets, did you write them correctly?

English

T: To write an ending that satisfies

Today you will box up the ending to your story and then you will write the ending. Think about how you can build up tension in your story.

Watch the video and complete the activities within.

I look forward to reading your finished stories.

Maths

First, have a go at completing the Flashback activity.

T: Make patterns with 3D shapes.

Watch and complete the activities within the video before completing the questions on the worksheet.

Support - Focus on completing questions 1, 2, 3 and 4

Challenge – Complete all the reasoning questions and then have a go at the 'True or False' (T or F) question to make you think!

Reading

T: To think of the main elements of the story.

Who are the main characters?

Where does the story take place?

When does the story take place?

What is the main idea of the story?

Name one problem, and tell how it was solved?

I have attached a worksheet with these questions on but it is not necessary for you to print these out.

Support - Discuss each of the answers with an adult.  You do not need to write them down.

Challenge -Write your answers in full sentences.

Friday Afternoon

'Catch-up time' to complete any work you have not been able to do or finish from this week.

Or to enjoy some free choice activity time!

Well done everyone for working so hard!

I have enjoyed reading your work on Teams.

Have a lovely weekend and I look forward to seeing you all on Monday, back in school.

Year 2's PE will be on Monday and Friday.  Please wear your PE kit on those days.  Thank you.
