Phonics

We are learning the short vowel sound /U/ when it is spelt with and O in words such as onion, mother,

Watch and listen to the story in the video below.

How many short U words can you hear and see?

Can you make a list of them?

You could use some in sentences of your own or you could have a go at making up your own short story.

Complete the u/o sheet below, just like you do in school. Practise reading the words yourself first (sound out and blend), then read them to an adult.

If you have printed out the sheet you can tick the ones you read corrrectly to an adult.

Challenge: Choose at least 3words  and write each one in a sentence (or use words you found in the story above!).

Remember to use joined/best handwriting, a capital letter at the begining of your sentences, word spaces and a full stop to end each of your sentences.
